演講摘要：

In this talk we will discuss what is meant by business analytics, data science and “big data” and what the implications are for statistics instruction at the university level. We will then turn to an overview of a few research topics, such as movie analytics, directed acyclic graphs applied in business situations and an example of an agent-based model to evaluate emergency response and dispatch strategies in connection with natural gas emergency calls in a major metropolitan area.
